STEAM

The Ventura County Library Foundation supports STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) learning, and believes children of today will need STEAM skills to be successful in tomorrow’s workforce.  The Foundation strongly supports the concept of implementing STEAM learning equipment, activities and spaces in libraries in Ventura County to introduce STEAM concepts to children, and foster a love of and appreciation for STEAM activities.   Sponsorship levels and needs vary depending on space available in the various library facilities.

Several “STEAM Sponsorships” levels of giving are needed:

$1K

$5K

$10K

$25K

The Foundation is proud to announce a $10K STEAM Sponsorship contribution to the Fillmore Library for the Teen Broadcast and Design Studio as part of the newly renovated Fillmore Library Innovation Lab. This STEAM Sponsorship was made possible through a partnership between the Foundation and the Fillmore Friends of the Library.

A contribution of $1.5M from the State of California in 2019 enabled the Fillmore Library to be expanded and renovated. The Innovation Lab is a key part of the expanded Fillmore Library which engages, enlightens, and excites generations to come! This community gathering space serves as a landmark facility in the community, and a center for lifelong learning and enjoyment.

In 2024, the Library Foundation donated $25,000 to the Ventura County Library to establish a Makerspace at the Ray D. Prueter Library in Port Hueneme.

In 2024, the Library Foundation donated $10,000 to the Ventura County Library to provide “STEAM Kits” for distribution at the library branches and mobile libraries so kids can participate in STEAM activities at home.
